As people who connect through personal interactions and relationships, we don't buy products & services, we buy emotions. From a new, red lipstick that makes us feel powerful and fearless to a new set of golf clubs for earning a promotion at work, there is usually an emotion linked to our purchases.
The next time you're watching commercials or reading a magazine, pay attention to how many brands actually ask you to buy anything. Most of them won't. Instead, they tell a story, through carefully chosen written, verbal, or visual content, which taps into your emotions. Whether those emotions are based in happiness, anger, fear, the need for acceptance, or love doesn't matter. What matters is that now you've associated that product or service with your personal emotions. That's storytelling.
At The Art of Storytelling we’ll discuss:
- Why stories persuade audiences in a way that facts simply can’t
- Three types of stories that resonate
- How to tell your story everywhere from interviews and speaking engagements to websites and social media
This is an active workshop which means attendees receive time to draft a plan for implementing the strategies discussed.
